The Consumer Electronics Show in Chicago is held twice every year to give manufacturers a chance to introduce new products to dealers. Sony, Panasonic, RCA, and other name companies display every electronic item they make. Browsing down the aisles at(the most recent CES, the following flashes of new technology came to our attention.

"Now Im no engineer, but baby, I know good sound when I "hear it," says Telly Savalas as he leans on a Verit' Speaker. Telly goes on to say that the Verit speakers are great quality. "They

dont chintz on anything." Also, "Man, those Verit guys are really tough birds when it comes to quality control!" (Verit Speakers, 11131 Dora Street, Sun Valley, California 91352.)

Discomania indeed. The complete system packs up into one 63 pound suitcase. Its called Discomex. (Omex Products Ltd. , Wandle Mills, Beddington, Croydon, Surrey, England.)

I wont bore you with the technical specs. It works, of course. The Gale people have also come out with a chrome plated speaker cabinet. (Gale Electronics & Design Limited, 23 Burton Place, London W1X 7AB, England)

New shape is always interesting. This FM Stereo/AM/2 shortwave band radio with cassette recorder has an offbeat design that looks like it might work. Its the Evadin ERCP-4011, (TZL International Corp., 2020 West 16th Street, Broadview, Illinois 60153.)

JVC Model -3050 is a FM/AM/PSB radio with a 3" TV. Now, why cant they add a calculator, digital clock, alarm, FM stereo, audio cassette and rhake it half the size? (JVC America, Inc., 5875 Queens Midtown Expressway, Maspeth, New York 11378.)

There have been several attempts to rebuild the audio cassette machine from the bottom up. Nakamichi is one firm who has led the way in giving the cassette the same fine technology^ that can be found in open reel tape recording. Now AKAI has produced their GXC-570D cassette stereo tape deck with the kind of front panel that gives uncanny control of the tape. (AKAI America Ltd., 2139 East Del Amo Blvd., Compton, California 90220.)

Sometimes a minor change in design provides a more cybernetic experience. This Sankyo ST-30 portable cassette recorder tilts its speaker at you. (Sankyo Seiki [America] Inc.,149 Fifth ^venue, New York, New .York 10010.)
