The tall, dark (haired) and handsome Richard Drummie and Peter Cox are the guiding lights of Go West, one of England’s hottest groups. The Londoners are riding up the charts with singles like “Don’t Look Down (The Sequel)” from the album Dancing On The Couch, which also features a jazzy guest appearance from British chanteuse Kate Bush. For obvious reasons, they’ve been compared to Wham!, but Richard insists that they’re nothing alike ... after all, he’s never had his nose fixed! “Fortunately,” he laughs, “my nose is about my best feature, so I was lucky there!” Here’s Richard with more to say about Go West’s special partnership .. .

“We had a somewhat glitzy image to start with. You know, two supposedly good-looking guys in suits, therefore creating an association with Wham! Certainly this album will dispel any of that.”

“ ‘The King Is Dead’ is a very bitter song about a chance meeting with someone I once admired greatly. I still have idols, but I think I’ll avoid them in the future! I suppose my main idol is Todd Rundgren.”

“i wish I was a millionaire simply for the reason that I could afford to record records and do exactly what I want to!”

“We both lived in a town on the outskirts of London. My band got reviewed as ‘sounding like Free' and his band did, too. It's a very small town, so we just had to check out each other’s bands. We became friends from there. ”

“I’m the one who says ‘Go for it!' So I suppose I might be the motivation but that's Paul’s opinion! He’s more cautious than I am. I’m the one who says 'Let’s take a chance.’ Also, in the music he's more down the line. I’m the one who tries to push us over the wall. I like to create and take chances, whereas he’s more straight-ahead. ”
