MEGADETH

THE HEROES OF HEAVY METAL

BEST OF ’87/’88: They’re still riding high on the success of the killer LP Peace Sells... But Who’s Buying? A new masterpiece is due any second now!

PROFILE: Kings of thrash metal, Megadeth have ruled the speed scene with two mind-blowing LPs. Previously, frontman Dave Mustaine played guitar for Metallica before leaving to form his current group.

WHAT’S IN A NAME: Megadeth got their name from a pamphlet on nuclear war written by California Senator Alan Cranston, not from the film Dr. Strangelove, as has been rumored.

FAVORITE MEGADETH SONG: "Devil’s Island,” which Mustaine wrote after the Dustin Hoffman film Papillon.

PET PEEVE: Metallica. Ever since Mustaine left his former group, he can’t keep Ms big mouth shut about their unresolved differences.

QUOTE: As soon as I left Metallica, they said I couldn t play, that I was gonna be a bum for the rest of my life. Now we’re in the majors, too!"
