WHAT’S IN A NAME: Joey Tempest borrowed his bogus surname from a Shakespearean play.

FIRST BAND: Joey and original Europe | guitarist John Norum were in the awardwinning band, Force.

MILITARY SNAFU: Norum had to sneak out of his army barracks at night to record the band’s first record. He was caught and confined to quarters. PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT: Produc ing and composing the Swedish “Metal' Aid” anthem as part of the international African famine relief campaign. GREATEST TRAGEDY: Heavy touring wrecked havoc on Joey’s vocal cords, forcing The Final Countdown to be delayed nearly two years.
