BANANARAMA

REBELS WITH A CAUSE

BEST OF ’87/'88: The sweet and summery romp of Wow.

PROFILE: With four hit albums and a bakers-dozen of singles in the last five years, this irresistable British trio really made it when 1984’s “Cruel Summer” and 1987’s “Venus” became global hits.

It helped them achieve their goal; to earn enough to go shopping around the worldl BIO BREAK: Bananarama—Sarah Dallin, Siobhan Fahey and Kerin Woodward—got their start as back-up singers for the band Fun Boy Three. FORMER JOBS: Sarah and Siobhan dropped out of the London College Of Fashion to start Bananarama, while career girl Kerin once worked as a clerk for the BBC.

FIRST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Their very first single, “Aie A Bwana,” went to #1 on the British pop charts!

MAIN SQUEEZES: Siobhan is married to Eurythmic Dave Stewart. They’re expecting their first baby, but Kerin beat them to it by giving birth to a baby girl. Meanwhile, Sarah is single and fancy free!

QUOTE: “Sometimes we write songs with a deeper meaning, but sometimes they're just great pop songs.”
