TRAGEDY'S RAINBOW

From chaos to infinity, Big Thief find the light

December 1, 2025
Anagricel Duran

At the tender age of 23, I realized that I craved some kind of massive change. I quit my job, took all my savings, and booked a one-way ticket to London. The first few weeks in the city felt isolating, but I drowned out the isolation with Big Thief’s Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You. Frontwoman Adrianne Lenker’s tender vocals outlined my days, and the band’s melodies filled them with possibility. It would be their last album as a quartet, marking the start of a short hiatus during which guitarist Buck Meek released his third solo album, Haunted Mountain, drummer James Krivchenia’s Mega Bog project released End of Everything, and Lenker released her sixth solo album, the Grammy-nominated Bright Future.
