"That’ll be on my tombstone: 'Over 300 credits on Discogs.’”

Listen, Hank Aaron hit 755 home runs (still No. 1 in our book, Hank), and those digits look good on a plaque. As of this writing, Segall is at 327, but by the time you read this, that data point will surely have crawled up the scale to a more aesthetically pleasing number. But Segall ain’t about stats; he doesn’t strike me as a list maker or a trainspotter. A record collector, def, but that just means he’s an art lover. Who among us doesn’t love art? The dead, that’s who. The very much alive and kicking Ty Segall has made scores of great rock ’n’ roll records, in a dazzling array of genres and styles, all while playing a wide variety of instruments. That’s a lot of work, but Segall has an easy vibe about him. Maybe that’s California shining through. I’m talking to him thanks to the miracle of fiber optics while he’s at home in South Pasadena holed up in his studio, a not uncommon state of affairs for the musical polymath.
