Greetings from Detroit
TOUCH ME I’M (DAVE) BUICK
Getting through it with a local legend.

For this issue I had a quick, one-beer conversation with local bon vivant Dave Buick over at Motor City Brewing Works during a summer storm. He was coming off the high of recently attending Jack White’s 50th birthday (my invite was lost in the mail) and the excitement of an impending trip to London, where Third Man was throwing a release party for Gina Birch’s new record Trouble. There’s nothing like chatting with me to even a fella out.
Let me ask you a really dumb question to start. When I first became aware of you around Detroit in the ’90s, I was convinced your name was a very clever, local “punk name.” I am now older and wiser, but I have to ask...
That is my real name, yes.
And are you a car-company Buick?
