THE MONKEES

What can be said about the Monkees that hasn’t already been said a million times during the last year?

The Monkees are back—and it looks like this time they may be back to stay! Following the phenomenal reunion tour of last summer, the boys have kept in touch during this last year, making plans—and the good news is that the tour will hit the road againg this coming summer. Dates are already booked throughout the U.S.

The new Monkees movie is also in the planning stages, and it should be ready soon. But the best news may be—well, it’s actually a rumor at this point, but a very reliable rumor—that Rhino Records is planning to release many never-beforereleased songs by the original Monkees, recorded in the ’60s when Mike Nesmith was still a member of the group.

If that isn’t enough, you can still catch the guys in reruns of their series every day on your TV screen. And we haven’t even mentioned the band’s brand new studio LP set to be released this summer just before the tour begins.

So, all in all, it looks like this summer will be another Monkees festival. And people say they monkey around. . .

As Peter Tork recently said in regards , to how long the Monkees will last: “Well, there’s no telling. What I sort of think is going to happen is we’ll go on indefinitely intermittently. We’ll do a short concert tour here, we’ll make a TV special there, make some public appearances, and fill in the rest of the time with our personal projects.” We say: Great!
