Madonna AT CLOSE RANGE

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out whether Madonna is a rock ’n’ roll star or a movie star! Of course, the lovely Ms. Ciccone made her mark as a song and dance bird—but it wasn’t long before she was appearing in Vision Quest, and then really realizing her acting dreams in the very popular Desperately Seeking Susan.

And now that this Detroit-born-and-bred star is married to Sean Penn, one of the best actors in today’s young Hollywood community, it seems that movies will remain a big part of her life. It’s well-known that Sean and wife will be starring together in the forthcoming Shanghai Surprise (in which Madonna portrays a nun!), but before the movie was even released, Madonna surprised everyone by recording the theme song for Sean’s latest movie, At Close Range. The song, “Live To Tell,” is already climbing the national charts on its way to becoming a hit—and steady rotation of the video on MTV is providing her many fans with a new Madonna “fix”!

So what is it? Madonna: rock star or movie star? In the case of this stunning heroine, let’s just say that she’s an allaround entertainer—and keep the labels where they belong for the less talented!
