WHAM! MAKE IT BIGGER?

Do the names Andrew John Ridgeley and George Michael Panos mean anything to you?

Unless you live on a desert island, we're betting they do! Of course the pair of them are better known as Great Britain's wonderful Wham! And from their very start as recording artists, Wham! have been receiving more publicity than any band since Duran Duran! Want a capsule description on the guys? You've got it: George Michael, Wham!'s main songwriter, was born in London in 1963—he's a Gemini, for horoscope buffs!—he weighs 160 pounds (last time he checked!), he's six feet tall, best of all, he's single! Andrew Ridgeley was born in Surrey, England, in 1963—he's an Aquarius! — he's six-foot two, weighs 170 pounds and is also single!

What a pair!

Frankly, Wham! have become the superstars they are in the best way possible: their music! In these days of MTV, when some bands may actually become famous soley on the basis of their looks, Wham! have proven that good looks and musical talent can come in one package. And what a package! Wham! have so far relesed two albums—Fantastic and Make It Big—and both have been chock-full of spectacular hits."Bad Boys." "Young Guns (Go For It!)," "Careless Whisper" and—ROCK-SHOTS' favorite—Wake Me Up Before You GO-GO" are just a few of the many wonderful Wham! hits that have definitely made the past few years the era of Michael and Ridgeley

And let's not forgot "I'm Your Man, "the newest Wham! single. It's a taste of what's to come from the next Wham! album, and if it's any indication of what's to come, you're probably as thrilled as we are~ Let's also not overlook "Wrap Her Up," George's far-reaching duet with rock legend Elton John—it's not often that two of rock 'n' roll's best loved and most highly respected vocalists have the time—or the inclination—to get together in the same studio and sing their hearts out! What does the future hold for Wham! (As an interesting aside to our readers: ROCK-SHOTS always tries to be correct in our puncuation, and ince Wham! always want an exclamation mark after their name, sometimes it gets pretty messy when you're writing sentences like the last one!) After the Wham! album, there's talk of a new solo set from eorge Michael. And after that? Maybe another tadlum tour like alst year's!

You did see the band last time around, didn't you? you didn't watch out! Wham! are so popular, we an only hope they'll stick together long enough for veryone who enjoys their great music to see them! In the meaning, everyone at ROCK-SHOTS is opping by the record store every day after work. When the new Wham! album finally comes out, we ant to be among the first to buy it! Ypu, too? Then we'll see you there!
