When I don’t play music, I’m no longer John atte. So to keep John Waite alive—whatever al is—I’ve focused myself through music.”

I was at my absolute lowest ebb I imped into Pete Townshend at a club and we

went onstage and played five numbers. He was polite, nice—I learned so much from that. ”

“You don’t write great rock V roll from a limo. ’

“I don’t want to be anything else but John Waite. A lot of people want to make it big so they can be something else—spit on people and, generally, be animals. That’s being a pig.”

“I spent four years in art college and I write poetry pretty well. I mean, strong stuff. And I wanted to write a novel. ”
