ARCADIA: KWIK KWOTES!

With the release of “Election Day”—and the hit album it appears on, So Red The Rose— Arcadia have reaffirmed that Duran Duran are, indeed, talented enough to support at least three bands. Here are some of the things Nick Rhodes and Simon LeBon have been saying about their successful spin-off group, music and life itself!

“The one criticism that does hurt is when people say ‘Duran Duran were handed success on a silver platter.’ The reason we’ve sustained what we’ve got over five years is because we haven’t stopped working for a day. ’’—Nick Rhodes.

“There’s different themes running through ‘Election Day, ’ one of which is the chorus. It repeats the idea of some kind of baptism through fire, enabling one to achieve great things. ” —Simon LeBon.

“Arcadia came at a time for me when I was changing naturally. It wasn’t anything to do with breaking away from Duran. ’’—Simon LeBon.

“It’s very flattering to be compared to the Beatles, but they really weren’t anything like us, and we weren’t much like them.’’—Nick Rhodes.

“I’ve always been involved in some sport or another. I like active sports, like caving,

climbing, mountaineering, flying, sailing. I wasl never frightened to go into a boat and sail it. ” —Simon LeBon.

“I like people being excited at concerts and I think it’s a great atmosphere if everybody’s all hyped up, as long as it’s not dangerous. It’s terrible when people get out of control.”

—Nick Rhodes.

“The beauty of the way we made So Red The Rose is in not having an established band to actually make the record. Each artist is chosen\ according to the track you want to use them on. | —Simon LeBon.

“I think by hurrying things you never get anything done. I always remember my dad saying to me—the only piece of advice he gave: he said: ‘Hurry up broke his neck. ’ Which is really true. ’’—Nick Rhodes.

“‘Missing’ is almost like a ghost story. It’s abo somebody who’s either gone away or passed away. ’’—Simon LeBon.

“Suddenly I had the money to spend time in fancy hotels and drive around in limos. I reali what a load of bull it was; how insubstantial those things really are. ’’—Simon LeBon.
