ANNIE LENNOX OF THE EURYTHMICS

Dear Father,

Of all the nasty luck!

By now you—and all England—are quite familiar with Boy George, of course. Can you imagine how it disturbs me to see his picture on the cover of every magazine that presently exists?

How I hate him!

No record company in Britain will sign me now. They dismiss me as a "pale imitation" and "nothing new." One ghastly paper even called me an "aging ' drag queen Quentin Crisp would disown.

I am disheartened, father.

Will I ever, ever, set foot on American soil? Will my talents remain forever undiscovered?

These questions, and many more keep me up very late at night.

I have decided to join the Air Force.

Sincerely,

P.S. If the drug thing becomes an issue, may I still join you at the bank?
