HM BEYOND THE SOUND BARRIER?

Where will this New Wave Of Heavy Metal take us? To the brink? To the laundromat? To your friend Louis's house? Who, indeed, can say? Take for instance Sound Barrier, pictured here and touted as "Heavy Metal's First Black Group"—though maybe George Clinton & company might want to take 'em up on that.

They're from L.A., they're hot and heavy, and they've got the Sacred Screech down pat! What more do you need?

Fact is, some of the screechingest guitars you'd ever want to hear are on old blues records made by folks old enough to be these guys' grandfathers! The same records that were studied groove by groove by the "first wave" of Heavy Metallers—whose records were likewise studied way down the line, until we've ended up with Quiet Riot playing Steve Marriott playing Ray Charles playing. ..urn, with his new sunglasses?

Meanwhile, dig the Cosmic Gonzola that remains the newest wave of HM, take it with the appropriate spices, and then go to the library and read a book or something! This has been a public service announcement courtesy of everybody in the world that you know except for Ozzy Osbourne and Bo Diddley!

P.S. Dress for success or you'll be a mess! We guess!
