LOU REED SINGS GILBERT O’SULLIVAN? As I write this, ’83 is yawning to a close and it occurs to me that I should write to commemorate 10 years of my reading CREEM. That’s right: first issue I read was September ’73. Most of the current staff was not writing for CREEM back then (some would surmise that most of your staff was not yet born).

I’m a tender 17 years of age myself (hope you feel guilty as hell about being responsible for my degeneration) and.am hoping you’ll print this as a courtesy, or at least in hopes of my continued patronage. Just a few random observations (my favorite kind):

1. Dave DiMartino has great taste in “heroes.” Sure wish the last Beefheart feature had been written by him.

2. The Rockpile cover story of a few years back, Johnson’s AC/DC and Queen Books of Lists, and the infamous ’74 review of Lou Reed Sings Gilbert O’Sullivan may well keep me laughing all the way to my grave.
