Vaughan refused to sign the Thin White Dukes contract because it had no relationship to the verbal agreement" Bowie had made, promising several opening gigs for Vaughans own band, Double Trouble, as well as allowing the guitarist to promote his debut solo LP, Texas Flood, in interviews. On top of this, Vaughan claims that Bowie offered him minimum union wages, meaning that he would have earned less than $300 per concert, not much when you consider that Bowie received a million and a half clams for his appearance at the US Festival. Station To Station henchman Earl Slick has been recruited to fill Vaughans shoes, while Double Trouble tours America on their own...
