SCTV gang movie news: Second City alum David Steinberg will direct Drums Over Malta, (his second directorial outing), a movie featuring all seven SCTV-ers, with John Candy and Joe Flaherty in the principal roles of a guy being chased (Candy) and his pal (Flaherty). Meanwhile, the Bob & Doug concept film (in which Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas play B&D as spies) is—as we write—at the scouting for locations stage; the finished product to be dripping beer on your screens by next January.

Richard Drey fuss to play the title role in a forthcoming Young Einstein flick? Richard�s hair will certainly pass the audition... John Travolta is playing hard to get, but word is he will reprise his role of Tony in the upcoming Saturday Night Fever remake.. .Revolta was spumed in his attempts to portray Jim Morrison on the big screen because he couldn�t get Morrison�s family�s OK. Landmark teen flick Where The Boys Are, which chronicled the then-budding college-kids-inFlorida scene back in 1962, is to be remade by Allen �Grease� Carr, with �doubles� for Connie Francis and Paula Prentiss, two of the original stars.

Timothy Hutton is set to play the role of the television & radio major his dad, the late Jim Hutton, portrayed. The new version, parts of which will be filmed in sunny FLA, will be �spicier,� say the producers, in keeping with �today�s morals.� Too bad—without any goody-two shoes like Dolores Hart, how can we properly enjoy it when the bad girls like Yvette Mimieux get in trouble on the beach... ?
