To freeze time...to preserve a moment...to capture the essence of an experience...pictures do all these. On the other hand, so do tombstones. How are pictures different?

Well, they're not as hard. They're a whole lot easier to carry in your pocket. Sometimes you can even use them for blackmail.

Which naturally leads us to rock *n’ roll. What is it about rock pix that fascinates us? The stock answer is that they're exciting, but that's only part of it. Getting paid is exciting, too, but you wanna look at people banking a check?

Rock has always been an intensely visual experience—not to mention easy money—since its inception. The gap between Elvis Presley and Van Halen is truly more musical than visual. Rock audiences have always demanded—and got—a show, not just a concert. The fury and extravagance of the show is what separates rock from schlock.

Within these pages are the people who make rock what it is. A few of them even make rock what it isn't. It is silly, profound, entertaining, emotional, thought-provoking, and fun. It isn't dull for too long. Look and see for yourself.
