ROCK STARS ARE JUST LIKE YOU AND ME: When Nils Lofgren decided to cover main squeeze Keith Richard's "Happy" on his new I Came To Dance disc, since he was going to print lifter notes on the album sleeve, he had to find out exactly what Keith was muttering-uhsinging. Turns out there was an Anglo-American language gap; what Nib thought was "Never kept a daughter past sunset" was actually "Never kept a dollar past sunset", -"Always had a hard in my pants"—actually Keith is singing "It always burnt a hole in my pants". Iss owlrawt, though—Nils has kept his, version of the song—wrong lyrics and all—intact. The Stones don't mind.

While all eyes are on the punk antics of England's Sex Pistols, Australians AC / DC are getting away with everything down in Aussie-land. The knicker-clad boys were playing a date near Melbourne and according to Angus Young: .The place was swarming with cops. We were warned by the police that we'd all be locked up if we did anything. So we were performing away and somebody said all the cops had gone to some riot somewhere. So the whole crew, the lot of us, took off our clothes. There were about 15 people on stage with nothing on." We're still awaiting the reviews from that concert...

Kim "Am I Famous Yet?" Fowley, having survived two consecutive studio brawls with the Runaways, is now back behind the consoles with, of all people, Helen Reddy. After hearing half a dozen tracks, Capitol execs are reportedly "surprised, and excited and pleased" about the results. Fowley, never one to be accused of false modesty, predicts the record will spawn a minimum of three consecutive hit singles, followed by urgent production offers by "Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen and other teen hu stlers". As for his teen-queens of noise, who Fowley w ill accompany on a whirlwind tour erf the South Seas in late spring, the producer/ impresario said: "They can find a new chaperone for their third album. I'm through with that hustle until they clean up their stage act and starfiaking daddy's advice. Right now, Cherie Currie has all the stage presence of Eleanor Roosevelt."

When Robert Plant wanted to be rehabilitated (yes, still from his horrific Greek auto accident) he showed up at the Wolverhampton Wander ers soccer dub training ground to join in. They insisted that if he wanted to train he would have to submit to daily sessions just like the regular boys, and like a man, Robert accepted the challenge. Sad to say, although the Plant physique is in never-better shape, his tonsils gave way, necessitating the cancellation of some tour dates.

The Stones delighted the first night audience of radio station CHUM contest winners with oldies like "Route 66" (the set opener), and took advantage ofthe faintly tacky, low-key atmosphere, Jagger proclaiming "Last call!" at one o'clock and repairing to the bar after the''Jumpin'Jack Flash" finale. By the next night Toronto fans realized that the club date was no ruse, and a large, patient mob outside the club necessitated the band fleeing for their limos as soon as they'd finished playing.
