GEORGE McCORKLE

May 1, 1977

The CREEM Archive presents the magazine as originally created. Digital text has been scanned from its original print format and may contain formatting quirks and inconsistencies.

Tired of his guitar pickin' good ol' boy image and even more tired of what he claims to be a constant parade of "pussy cars" swishing across these pages, George couldn't resist the temptation to set the record straight by sending us a picture of a REAL car! The 1967 Camaro was just an ordinary street car when McCorkle picked it up two years ago and had the thing totally rebuilt for racing by Fulton Competition. This little beauty now boasts a 302 cubic inch, 500 horsepower engine which manages to do pretty well for George when he drives it in the superstar class of the IHRA (International Hot Rod Association). The only drawback to this rod is that its 15-inch slicks make the body too wide to fit through the local drive-in beer depot!
