Summer slumps haven�t hit Hollywood this year. Of course, nostalgia helps out with revivals, rehashes and regurgitations, keeping the 70�s alive with the past few decades. The F. Scott Fitzgerald upswing started with Mia Farrow and Robert Redford�s The Great Gatsby then Richard Chamberlain�s F. Scott Fitzgerald and the Last of the Belles and now MGM�s The Last Tycoon.

Summer slumps haven�t hit Hollywood this year. Of course, nostalgia helps out with revivals, rehashes and regurgitations, keeping the 70�s alive with the past few decades. The F. Scott Fitzgerald upswing started with Mia Farrow and Robert Redford�s The Great Gatsby then Richard Chamberlain�s F. Scott Fitzgerald and the Last of the Belles and now MGM�s The Last Tycoon. Mike Nichols, will direct this story (which Fitzgerald left unfinished when he died of the rise and fall of the Golden Hollywood Era. Speaking of Robert Redford: he�s filed suit against the release of a cigarette called �Redford� and speaking of Dick Chamberlain: he�s in that Richard Lester (Help, Hard Day�s Night) version of The Three Musketeers, also starring Michael York, Oliver Reed, Geraldine Chaplin, Charlton Heston, Faye Dunaway, Raquel Welch and Christopher Lee. Do you believe that?... The Prophet may be made into a musical in London starring Paul McCartney. . . Not George Harrison?!!... Catch My Soul the Richie Havens starrer with Tony Joe White, Bonnie and Delaney and Susan Tyrell won rave reviews at the Dallas Film Festival but is being re-edited by Sid Abel who did Sounder and Let the Good Times Roll. What producer Jack Good (Shindig) and director Patrick McGoohan (Secret Agent Man) created, Abel will surely enhance. . . The highest rating on TV for 1972-73 so far, goes to Patton. The Academy Awards came in 3rd, Elvis — 6th and Paul McCartney only 137th. . . Elke Sommer�s husband, Lou Adler has'film plans for a Carole King movie and Cheech and Chong doing Abbot and Costello. . . Sonny and Cher are interested in a filmusical of Dick Tracy. Who�ll play Dick? Bing Crosby Productions signed up Twiggy for W. .. Harry Belafonte the original reggae singer, has been asked to play the Puerto Rican baseball player, Roberto Clemente, who died on his way to aid Nicaragua. . .Glenda Jackson�s itinerary for the next couple months: Goodmorning Midnight with Joe D�Allessandro (Warhol�s darling); The Parkhursts with Claire Bloom and The Tempter. . . Stagger Lee is a movie by Chocolate Chip Productions. . . Dustin Hoffman (soon in Papillion with Steve McQueen) is starring in Friday the Rabbi Slept Late. Sounds foreign. . . Apple has bought the rights to Little Malcolm. No news yet on what it�s about, with who, by who etc. . . Robert Culp, Faye Dunaway, Robert Ryan and Slim Pickens all ready for Under The Sun, an Italian goodie. . . Jacqueline Susann�s Once Is Not Enough (once is too many) soon to be produced by the fellow who�ll bring you Robin Moore�s The Fifth Estate. . . Jack Nicholson and Roman Polanski are teamed up for Chinatown. \Nicholson recently completed The Last Detail. . . Kirk Douglas just finished Scalawag and is now working on Posse with Bruce Dem. Anne Douglas (his wife) is producing and his dog is an extra. . . Liz Taylor in Driver�s Seat. . . Lucy Ball in Marne. . . After 25 years, Tony Curtis gave up movies for Broadway.
