Noel Redding has filed suit against Warner Brothers Records seeking $350,000 in damages and an accounting of royalties. He and Mitch Mitchell are also suing to obtain royalties due them from the Jimi Hendrix estate. The ex-sidemen contend that they had signed an agreement with the late guitarist in which he was to receive 50% of all royalties and each of the others would receive 25%. The suits estimate that Hendrix’s estate has been paid $1,500,000 with the $350,000 representing one quarter of that amount.

Iggy Popp and the Stooges, which is what they’re billed as now, have been scampering through the Hollywood hills in pursuit of fame and fortune, and they’re ready to emerge now with what , promises to be one of the greatest live acts since Godzilla fought the Smog Monster. Iggy says he’s thinking in terms of nudity as a costume, and Ron Ashton, noted crypto-Nazi bassist, has obtained full regalia, including riding boots and jodhpurs. In addition the Stooges have a new piano player, Bob Scheff who was formerly in the initial Iggy aggregation the Prime Movers, and later played with John Cage. He’s, a permanent addition, says Iggy, “but to the side, if you know what I mean.”

We’ll be seeing soon because the Stooge tour kicks off in Detroit March 27, after a two year absence, and culminates, for a while at least, with a performance at the Felt Forum April 13.
