MIAMI,FLA.—Jim Morrison, the king of orgasmic rock, has been convicted of two of the misdeameanors he was charged with, specifically, open profanity and indecent exposure here. Morrison will be sentenced October 23rd to a maximum of eight months in jail and a $515 fine.
The other charges Morrison faced were: lewd and lascivious behavior, indecent exposure, open profanity, public drunkeness, felonious assault, non-support, contempt of court, creating a public nusiance and corrupting the public morals. And that’s just the misdeameanors! The felonies included exposing his private parts and simulating masturbation and oral copulation. The oral copulation charge arouse from the fact that Robbie Krieger was down on his knees playing his guitar and Morrison knelt down in front of him — first time anyone was ever arrested for allegory.
The trial was a farce; no two witnesses could agree, some claimed Jim’s pants were down to his knees, other maintained that his hand was down them, some claimed that he didn’t do anything wrong. One person said that Morrison was guilty, while his companion, who was seated next to him, said that Morrison hadn’t done anything at all wrong. Well of course, says the first witness, your head was down grooving to the music. Of course, if that’s true, one wonders how the first witness could have looked to his left or right and straight ahead at the same time. One wonders about a lot of things these days.
