Dear Creem,

At a certain rock and roll fest late last summer, a certain British group played an extermely raunchy set and received at least two (if not more) enthusiastic standing ovations. Why? The Detroit area was stoned.

Feeling embarrassed, walking around observing.. .always observing... stoned, spaced faces grimacing. Can you rationalize this? People take their dope at cconcerts. Why? Isn’t the music enough of a high? Can’t we get good vibes without getting stoned?

Concerts are probably the only place you get away from the straight world ie. parents and authorities, long enough to do your dope, but does that excuse you? Try it. Enjoy the music. The music. Please. What’s the use of paying a grand sum of $5 if you aren’t going to be aware of the entertainment you’re getting.

We’re getting better. The hash is good and abundant. We don’t get the chemicals so often any more. So much for better awareness. It still goes on.

As for the ‘come together’ aspect of concerts, can you really fully enjoy (he company of your fellow freaks when you’re out in the ozone? Music is the true unity. We all know it.

Being stoned is cool. It gets your head where you want to be. Beautiful Music can do it too.
