Just in time to stem off the music carpetbaggers, Kramer-Day Associates, Detroit Rock & Roll people, are reqdy to guide and otherwise perform the whole trip for bands or individual musicians of the unique Detroit frenzy.

The Kinetic Playground (Chicago’s ultra-slick ballroom) will be opening a branch in Detroit in the next month or so under a well known local front. Expect this already known place to compete with, if not outdo, the Grand’s bills. By the way, this item is the antithesis of another item in this column. Pick one.

It seems that the new Dutch Elm has been black-listed by the Rock community for an unfortunate incident that happened at Silverbell some time ago. Rockin’ Reggie, maniacal pivot of the Elm made a gross error in hiring some thieving chomp he didn’t know well. The story is that said chomp lifted an amp from the Pursuit and showed up at the Rock & Roll Revival claiming to have worked at a straight job to cop this new amp. The Pursuit immediately recognized the missing piece and had attorney John Levy exercise his perogative. Said chomp, needless to say, has not been with the Elm since that moment and it definitely seems that the rest of the band were the victims of an unfortunate circumstance. This should be acknowledged by the community and a fine band should again be allowed to play.

WABX’s free concert at Wayne State’s Tartar field was an everyday run-of-the-mill, fantastic event. This was the first of a series of “Detroit Happenings” sponsored by Mayor Jerry’s office. Plum Wine, Virgin Dawn, Savage Grace, SRC and Wilson Mower Pursuit were all there. The fantastically together SRC donated the money they received from the Mayor’s Committee to Open City, as did crazed Bruce, the psychedelic ice cream man.

What this means to the listener is that for no reason will the station ever go off the air again unexpectedly and in areas of the city where WABX was weak, you will be able to pick up the station on your toothbrush. Viva WABX.
