RUSS BUYS EASTOWN?

The ultimate up-to-date, last minute true reality, exclusive scoop on the Eastown affair. Russ Gibb wants to buy the Eastown Theatre, Bob Bageris, current impressario, wants to sell it. Gibb and Bageris have reached an agreement on purchase price and other liscensing and managerial details. It is currently in the hands of a battery of attorneys discussing the various legalities involved, liability insurance and leasing arrangements. If Gibb does end up controlling the Eastown, it still remains to be seen what he will do with it. There is a very good possibility that it will be closed, for the same setnap that is available at the Eastown (meaning concert hall rather than ballroom layout), is available at several other locations around the city that are more suitable.

Is it true that all the clubs that are not owned by Russ are owned by Punch and that they are partners? Do they have a Division Street branch?

Russ’s empire is ever increasing. Now he has the Sky under his wing.

Is Uncle Russ going broke?

Gibb has also arranged with the J. L. Hudson Company for a series of free concerts at the various Hudson stores. The first one will be at the Oakland Mall on August. If all goes well, it will be a regular event every Sunday at a different Hudson store. Free to the fans, but the bands will be paid.

Russ Gibb’s TV show will definitely not be on CKLW. Russ wanted a late evening time slot. CK evidently wanted another dance party. The show will be appearing on Channel 62, time to be determined shortly.

Russ Gibb is working on an affair tentatively called “First Annual Incest Festival”. The name really fits considering that the idea behind the event is that only British and Michigan groups will be appearing. Incest being relations between relatives. Set to appear are Led Zepplin, Ten Years After, The Nice, Keef Hartley (Mayall’s ex-drummer , has an album, “Half Breed” on Deram), and Lighthouse, a Canadian group, but after all, Canada ‘is in the Commonwealth. . 4 All Michigan bands that are to appear have not been set but it looks like the Amboy Dukes,, Frost, Sky, Third Power and many others. It will be at Olympia on August 31st froth Noon to Midnight.
