SIMPLE MINDS TOUR EXCLUSIVE!
If Simple Minds seems like a strange name to you, how would you feel about Johnny & The Self-Abusers? It’s no joke! That’s the name Simple Minds originally started out with, back when they were beginning! Of course, the late 1970s were a strange time. Bands like the Sex Pistols, the Jam, Generation X and others were becoming quite popular in Great Britain, so can Simple Minds be blamed if they wanted to ‘‘follow the leaders” with such an unusual (some would say scandalous) name?
But, if you think about it, where are those other bands in 19867 Gone and forgotten! But not Simple Minds!
No, Simple Minds have stayed true to their principles and gone about doing what they do best: making good music! So much good music, in fact, that you may be surprised to learn they've recorded several albums already. That’s right—they didn't start out with The Breakfast Club's massive hit, ‘‘Don’t You Forget About Me.” The Simps—as their fans call them—have a long and distinguished album catalogue behind them. Want to know more? Go to a record store and look for the "import” section—that’s the section that carries records that are "imported” into this country—and look in the Simple Minds bin! There you'll find such Simp masterpieces as Life In A Day, Real To Real Cacophony, Empires And Dance, Sons And Fascination, and—what many consider to be their best ever—New Gold Dream.
But there are two other reasons why Simple Minds are big news these days! First of all, lead singer Jim Kerr married Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders some time ago—and, in fact the pair have a child as a result of that marriage!
Secondly, and perhaps even more important,
Simple Minds are about to begin the second leg of their American tour as you read this!
It's hard to believe but true!
The huge success of the Simple Minds album, Once Upon A Time, is creating outrageous demand for Simple-Minded music in America. As you can see many large pictures here, Minds are carrying on like foxes onstage in the State; Thousands upon thousand concertgoers are being thri in ways they've never been thrilled before upon seeing grandeur and majesty that there, somewhere, in the music of Simple Minds!
And, of course, there’s stopping the rumors that already running rampant. Will Simple Minds continue on as always in the light their newfound success? the ever-appealing Jim Kei carry on with his mates—i go the solo route as so many of his peers have? the new album be the mei success that many fans (i non-fans\) are predicting?
